Instrumental Music in the Core Knowledge / Classical environment

Recorder: In the classroom – January of Third Grade year

                                                  -January of Fourth Grade year

Wind and Percussion Ensemble: once a week, after school, by invitation/audition.  Grades 4-8, student must be able to read  / finger / play the eight notes of the C scale on the instrument and have the instrument available for daily practice and rehearsals. Folding music stand needed.

On the Horizon

Beginning Trumpet or Cornet: Once a week, after school, as soon as interest and an adequate room is found.  Student must be in grade 4 or above and have a trumpet or cornet available for daily practice and rehearsal. Folding music stand needed.

Beginning  Basic drum rhythms:  Once a week, after school, as soon as interest and an adequate room is found.  Student must be in grade 4 or above and have a snare drum, practice pad, and drum sticks available for daily practice and rehearsal.

Beginning Flute or Clarinet:  Once a week, after school, as soon as interest and an adequate room is found.  Student must be in grade 4 or above and have the flute or clarinet available for daily practice and rehearsal. Folding music stand needed.

Intermediate flute ensemble: Possibility dictated by space, schedule, and interest.

Strings

If you are taking lessons on an orchestral string instrument and have an interest in being a part of a string ensemble, please let Mrs. Shellabarger know.

If you have, or plan to acquire, a string instrument and are looking for a studio teacher for that instrument; Mrs. Shellabarger has a list of local string teachers.
